Sfântul Gheorghe: The place where the Danube meets the Black Sea in a wild embrace, complemented by the history of the Enisala Fortress.
Sfântul Gheorghe is a place where time seems to have stood still, in a perfect balance between the gentle waters of the Danube and the infinity of the Black Sea. It is the meeting point of these two forces of nature, an experience that offers a rare peace and a deep connection with land and water.
We spent several magical days exploring the channels of the Delta, being carried by boat among lotuses and pelicans, until the Sfântul Gheorghe branch flows into the sea. There, the landscape is of a fascinating wildness, an endless beach where the fine sand meets the foamy waves.
On our way back from the delta, we couldn't pass by the Enisala Fortress without visiting it. Perched on a limestone hill that dominates the Razim and Babadag lakes, the fortress offers a spectacular panorama. It is the only medieval fortress in Dobrogea that has survived almost intact, being a witness to the turbulent history of these lands.
Dobrogea has surprised us once again with its unique blend of virgin nature and historical remains. Sfântul Gheorghe and Enisala are two must-visit destinations for anyone wanting to discover the soul of this region.
