An unforgettable experience with kids on a winter hike to Ciucas Peak. A tough trail, but rewarded by the magical beauty of the snow.
Venturing into the mountains in winter is never easy, and when you do it with three children, the challenge becomes even greater. However, the allure of the snow-covered mountains convinced us to embark on a hike towards Ciucas Peak. The winter gear, heavy backpacks, and small steps through the deep snow made the trail quite demanding, requiring numerous breaks and encouragement.
It was hard, I admit. The cold and sustained effort tested our limits, but every step was worth it. As we climbed, the landscape transformed into a true winter fairy tale. The snow-laden forests sparkled under the pale sun, and the strange rock formations of the Ciucas massif looked like sleeping giants under a white blanket.
For the kids, it was a real adventure. Their fatigue faded away at the sight of the immense landscapes and the snowdrifts they could sink into. Their smiles and the pride of reaching so high, in such a wild and beautiful setting, turned this difficult hike into one of our most treasured memories. The mountain in winter teaches you endurance, but it also rewards you with absolute beauty.
