A journey into the heart of Dacian history: exploring Deva Fortress with its spectacular panoramas and the mysterious Sarmizegetusa Regia, the ancient capital of Dacia.
Our visit to Hunedoara began at the Deva Fortress, an impressive stronghold watching over the city from the top of a volcanic cone. We chose to go up with the funicular, an experience in itself that rewarded us with a spectacular view of the entire Mureș valley. From above, the thick walls and guarded gates tell stories of medieval sieges and princes who once ruled these lands.
After exploring the ruins of the fortress on foot, we set off for the Orăștie Mountains to discover the mysterious Sarmizegetusa Regia. The capital of pre-Roman Dacia welcomed us with a sacred silence, among stone solar disks and sanctuaries that still seem to preserve the energy of our ancestors. The road through the beech forest is one of rare beauty, preparing you for the mysticism of the place.
It was a long day, full of history and emotion, which we ended by sleeping in the area, under the starry sky of the Dacian mountains, promising ourselves that we would return to explore the other fortresses in the region. Transylvania never ceases to surprise us with the depth of its stories and its ancient heritage.
