Vienna City Center: Imperial Walks and the Perfect Schnitzel

Experience the imperial charm of Vienna through its historic city center and savor the world-famous Wiener Schnitzel.

After our stop in Timișoara, we finally arrived in the heart of Austria: Vienna. Walking through the city center is like stepping into a living history book, where every imperial building and cobblestone square tells a story of grandeur.

Step into the Heart of Vienna

Our exploration began at Stephansplatz, the vibrant square dominated by the magnificent St. Stephen's Cathedral (Stephansdom). Its iconic multi-colored tiled roof and towering spire are visible from across the city. Climbing the stairs for a view or just admiring the Gothic details from below is a must.

From there, we strolled through the Graben and Kohlmarkt, Vienna's most elegant shopping streets. The architecture here is breathtaking, leading us directly to the Hofburg Palace, the former imperial winter residence. Watching the horse-drawn carriages (Fiaker) trot by adds a magical, old-world touch to the walk.

The Schnitzel Experience

You cannot visit Vienna without trying the authentic Wiener Schnitzel. We headed to a traditional tavern to experience this culinary icon.

A true Wiener Schnitzel is made from high-quality veal, thinned and breaded until it's golden and crispy. Ours was so large it practically spilled off the plate! Served with the classic Austrian potato salad (Erdäpfelsalat) with a touch of vinegar and red onion, it was the perfect end to our day of exploring.

Vienna is a city that delights both the eyes and the palate, making every moment feel like a royal treat.
